Chuck Leavell’s piano and keyboard work have been heard on the works of Eric Clapton, the Rolling Stones, George Harrison, The Allman Brothers Band, The Black Crowes, Blues Traveler, Train, Martina McBride, John Mayer... and many other prominent artists. His association with the Rolling Stones began in 1982 and is still going strong. Chuck is a first call session musician, working in studios around the world. His piano solo on the Allman Brothers Band’s classic instrumental, “Jessica” is still heralded as one of the best rock piano solos in recorded music, as is his solo on Clapton’s “Old Love” from the “Unplugged” CD. Chuck has recently recorded with John Mayer for Mayer’s new studio release and will be touring as keyboardist with John in 2012.
Chuck is also an artist in his own right, with several successful solo CDs in circulation…the latest of which is “Back To The Woods: A tribute to pioneers of blues piano” is to be released in late February. He will be performing songs from this CD in his Jazz Fest appearance, with some very special surprise guests.
