As grandsons of Boozoo Chavis they have always had a passion to play zydeco music just as he did. They were always inspired by him and the way he played his accordion. After his passing they realized that they had a chance to play his music and to continue the legacy where Boozoo left off. The Doghill Stompers consist of three sons of Rellis Chavis Sr. who was the drummer for his father (Boozoo) and two sons of Licia Chavis who is one of Boozoo’s daughters. There are three accordion players in the band Rellis Chavis Jr., Cornell Chavis, and Quincy Trail. Mason Trail is the bass player and Justin Chavis is the scrubboard player together they form the band known as the Doghill Stompers, bringing you zydeco music nationwide. They have played in such places as The New Orleans Jazz Festival, The famous Rock –N- Bowl in New Orleans, LA, Crawfish Festivals in Austin, TX and Breaux Bridge, LA, The Black Heritage Festivals in Fort Worth, TX and Lake Charles, LA, Festival de Musique Acadienne et Creole in Lafayette, LA just to name a few. The band plans to continue to play zydeco music and keep the legacy of Boozoo Chavis alive.
