Trumpeter/vocalist Jeremy Davenport was born
May 4, 1970 in St. Louis, Missouri. Raised in a
musical family by a music educator mother, and
trombonist father who's been a member of the St.
Louis Symphony for forty years, Jeremy seemed predestined
to challenge the bounds of his musical
heritage. While in high school, Jeremy studied with
members of the St. Louis Symphony, including
trumpeter, Susan Slaughter. In the eighth grade his
father would arrange an auspicious introduction to
trumpet idol Wynton Marsalis that would change his
life forever.

A merit scholar at the prestigious Manhattan
School of music, Davenport began private study
with Raymond Mase and Wynton Marsalis. He went
on to study at the University of New Orleans with
the patriarch of the Marsalis family, music educator
and jazz pianist Ellis Marsalis.
His talents flourished swiftly under such
renowned tutelage, and his craftsmanship and
tireless work ethic became indisputable. He was
honored to become the youngest performer on four
world tours with Harry Connick Jr.'s Big Band, and
he continues to perform multiple international Jazz
festivals and special events with his own band
today.

Jeremy specializes in a unique genre of jazz that
captures the improvisational and spontaneous
facets of this truly American art form. A devout fan
of storytelling standards of past ages, Davenport
pushes the boundaries of modern jazz stereotypes
while celebrating the song-and-dance elements that
inspires romantics worldwide.
