Los Po-Boy-Citos mixes Latin soul with New Orleans funk. They have been
named Best Latin Band at the Big Easy Awards for three years in a row.
They have played every major festival and venue in New Orleans, and
opened for Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Grupo Fantasma, Tower of
Power, and Rebirth Brass Band.
In July 2012, Los Po-Boy-Citos gathered in a house in the Lower
Ninth Ward to write new songs for an album. At the end of the month they
spent four days recording at guitarist Matt Sakakeeny's house with
engineer Andrija Tokic. Later John Gros of Papa Grows Funk and Tom
McDermott put down some organ and piano, and then Andrija mixed the
album at his studio in Nashville (where the Alabama Shakes and Hurray
For the Riff Raff made recent albums). The new CD "Hasta" will be
released the week of Jazz Fest 2013.
