This anointed group of singers enjoys lifting up the name of Jesus and just praising the Lord! Pastored by Rev. Sam Baker, the Nineveh Baptist Church has a rich history of gifted ministers, musicians and singers. The church was organized on Easter Sunday, April 1954, by the late Rev. Wilker Neal. Under his leadership the music ministry prospered for many years.
Under the leadership of Pastor Sam Baker, the music ministry moved to another level in ministry. Under the direction of Minister of Music Hezekiah Brinson, Jr., the debut CD of the Nineveh Baptist Church was released on April 29, 2007 to a sold out audience at the New Orleans Airport Hilton Grand Ballroom.
This CD has something for all generations, ranging from the traditional standard “Amazing Grace” to the Caribbean beat of “Trinity Praise”. From the rousing tracks “Church” and “Mighty God” which features our pastor Rev. Sam Baker, to the classical melodies of “Calvary Too”; “Worship” is true ministry!” Minister Brinson, a gifted, spirit-filled musician and minister wrote both the words and composed the music to most of the “Worship” selections. In addition to his duties as Minister of Music at Nineveh and his private studio and music academy, he has served as Director of Bands at West Jefferson High School, John Curtis Christian School and most recently The Jefferson Parish Band of Excellence. Nineveh is also proud to have Patrick Chatman serving as Music Director. An experienced director for over 25 plus years Patrick is always filled with the Joy of the Lord every time he stands before the choir as they minister through song.
The Nineveh Mass Choir has toured and performed regionally from Louisiana to Atlanta, GA, Alabama, Mississippi, the Great state of Texas and the Carolinas. From the release date to present, the choir has been featured in the People Section of The Times Picayune Newspaper and on the WWL-TV station Morning Show. The choir also appeared as a special guest for the Juneteenth Family Festival in Donaldsonville, LA. The choir is an annual favorite at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. The song “God Has Been Good To Me” maintained the Number 1 spot in the Praise Top 5 on New Orleans Radio Station WRPF “94.9 FM” for 20 consecutive weeks. In the August/September 2007 issue of the national publication Gospel USA Magazine, “God Has Been Good to Me” was rated #4 among the Top 30 Independent Gospel Songs.
In December 2007, the Louisiana Gospel Music Excellence awards was held in Shreveport, Louisiana. The CD "Worship" and Minister Hezekiah Brinson, Jr. along with the Nineveh Baptist Church Mass Choir were winners in 2 categories. The choir won 1st Runner Up in both the "Best Album/CD Project" as well as the "Church Choir Category".
From New Orleans to Alabama, Kentucky to North Carolina and New Jersey, various songs from this CD have ministered to radio listeners across the country.
God has truly been good to us. The Best is Yet To Come!
