Spencer Bohren’s lifelong fascination with America’s musical roots led him to New Orleans in the 1970s and the city’s legendary spirit has been seeping into his repertoire of original and traditional blues, country, gospel and folk songs ever since. A world-renowned lapsteel player, Spencer is also a virtuoso guitarist, songwriter, visual artist, educator and storyteller.
Requests from fans for more songs recorded on the lapsteel inspired Spencer to release his first all-lapsteel CD, Tempered Steel, available at this year’s New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, to complement his back catalog of 16 titles.
